Searching For A Podcast Microphone: Completed

One thing I didn’t account during COVID-19 and the stay-at-home orders around the world – supply and demand. While most of us heard about people hoarding things like toilet paper, food, and cleaning materials I didn’t think other items like technology would be taken as well. As I mention in First Day Completed, there are several things I have plans to do not only as the world re-opens but as I start working again. Today, we knocked out yet another item of our list.

I decided to turn the key, and finally bought a podcast microphone! It’s a Rode microphone, so it’s a good quality one I’ll be using. I was debating whether to get that or the ever-popular Blue Yeti. However, I will be aiming to use it quite a bit and not once a week so I wanted one with some longevity and can provide better sound quality. Unfortunately, I don’t have a sound studio to work in, so I expect certain sounds (like big trucks driving behind the fence) to get in the way of good recording. The mic should arrive by the end of next week, so maybe I can figure out some little solution before then.

But we’ll figure a way around it, as we now can focus on two things I’ve been talking about doing. One of which is the podcasting, both individually and with my friend. For those new, I plan to start my own podcast covering sports and entertainment. My friend has a microphone as well, but having to go to his place and sharing one mic is just inconvenient; if I’m being honest. And while we certainly can collaborate, and create sound clips for each other, this allows the my independence to cover topics that he may not be interested in talking about.

This also lets me do voice-overs and other assignments that anyone could request through freelancing. But I don’t want to get too far ahead, as I’m still adjusting to my new life schedule. However, it’s exciting to see progress on what we’ve been discussing here for months. Life can throw curveballs at us, but patience can be worth it. I mentioned collections in a previous post, but after some soul-searching I don’t think it’s for me after all. I want to focus on what is truly important to me, which includes these goals and mainly traveling. For travel, I’m debating if I want to not only blog about the adventures, but maybe even video capture it like a web series. Not necessarily as a vlogger, but treat it as a professional travel show. Much to think about definitely. Slowly, but surely, we’re getting there and I’m glad you all have been a part of this adventure. . .
