Dark, noisy lounge

As I sat there in the front
Sipping on my scotch
She stood before me
That beautiful jazz singer
As the crowd all around me chattered away
It was a part of the symphony of music playing
The bottles, the drums
The laughter, the piano
The jabber, the bass
They all mixed so perfectly in a chaotic way
Yet the singer, that beautiful singer
The way she moved to the rhythm
Her hips swayed, that smile stayed
Her voice like silk to the ears, eyes shined no fear
In the mix of all things going on
She stood out in the dark, noisy lounge
I wanted to talk to her
Her lyrics enchant me
But I know I shouldn’t
I’m trying to leave that life behind
Jazz knows no boundaries
Whereas I’m still learning mine…
